What can be done about this? I am just one person.
If you have any interest in at all helping someone in need, then there are many things that can be done. Nearly as much as 30% of food is wasted in the United States. The first thing you can do to help is educate yourself to the critical reality of this severe problem: visiting this site is a great start. Many organizations in Michigan have informative sites about the strong hunger difficulties in our area: Gleaners Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, Lighthouse of Oakland County, etc.
